When something complex is procured, it goes through two types of tests.
Development tests provide feedback as the item is being developed; the developers use the results to find problems and fix them before the item is used. This ensures the item meets its requirements or specifications, and uncovers any problems that might or might not emerge during use.
Operational tests are performed after the item is ready for delivery, to determine how well the complete item works.
Why are operational tests necessary?
