Puzzle 9: October 14, 2019

A few days ago, the Telegraph, a major newspaper in the United Kingdom, published an article about the decreasing use of cash. The article focused on Sweden, where cash is disappearing.¹ For example, the Swedes use an app called Swish that “allows instant cash transfers using just a mobile phone number”.²

1. What are the advantages of a cashless society over one that uses cash?
2. What are problems of a cashless society that do not exist for a society that uses cash?
3. Would using block chains solve any of these problems?
